The BTS entity is full of acronyms, and if you don’t keep up, you will get left behind. Fans swoon over this k-pop ground of seven. The BTS ARMY wants to know every detail of each group member’s life, including which scents they wear.
Each member of BTS has their own scent preferences. A couple of them aren’t all that interested in cologne at all. But with seven group members, there’s bound to be a lot of variance and a little overlap in scent preferences.
In this post, I’ll share all the details I found about which scents each group member likes. Some of them have more than three favorites.
A Brief History of BTS
BTS is a seven-member South Korean boy band that released their first album in 2013, although they’d been performing together since 2010.
The direct Korean translation of their group name is, Bangtan Sonyeondan, which means “Bulletproof Boy Scouts.” They see themselves as armor against the metaphorical bullets that come flying towards adolescents by way of criticism, unrealistic expectations, and such.
They’ve earned international acclaim as a group of positive, charismatic young men who give their fans exceptional live performances.
Also known as the Bangtan Boys, individual group members with professional names in parentheses include:
- Jeon Jung-kook (Jungkook) – singer and songwriter
- Jung Ho-seok (J-Hope) – rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer
- Kim-Seok-jin (Jin) – singer, songwriter
- Kim Nam-joon (RM) – rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer
- Kim Tae-hyung (V) – singer, songwriter
- Min-Yoon-gi (Suga) – rapper, songwriter, record producer
- Park Ji-min (Jimin) – singer and dancer
Each member adds his own flair to the group, making a harmonious combination of sound and performance. Group members have a lot of creative input into the way the songs are written and recorded.

They’re one of the top-selling international music groups whose stats rival that of the Beatles.
What is the BTS ARMY?
BTS is a unique group of individuals who not only attract fans through their music. What’s most appealing about BTS is the way that they encourage listeners to treat themselves and each other. They call their fans an army because BTS sees themselves as the armor surrounding their ARMY.
Their fanbase is 40 million members strong.
ARMY is an acronym that stands for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth. It’s a highly loyal and organized fanbase unrivaled by the fan clubs of other stars.
ARMY members create social media translation accounts, which offer translations of the groups’ song lyrics, video streams, social media posts and more.
They also introduce BTS to new people with the aim of helping the group advance as much as they possibly can. This is often done through the use of specific BTS hashtags online. Their social media involvement keeps BTS trending for longer periods of time, which increase their notoriety.
Other ARMY members rally up the troops to increase votes for BTS nominations. Still others work offline by creating non-profit organizations in alignment with the group’s goals and values.
They raise donations for orphanages and other organizations, help the disadvantaged get medical care, and have even helped raise money to offer academic scholarships.
Reforestation, tutoring programs and more social and political efforts have been carried out by ARMY.
All of their actions are motivated by the desire to help a non-Western band remain at the top of the charts in the Western world. And it seems that the heart and soul of BTS members is what motivates them even more.
BTS group members have been reported as stating that the group and the ARMY are “constantly charging each others’ batteries.” All of the positive work carried out by the ARMY refuels BTS when they feel too tired to keep going. And BTS’s persistence does the same for the ARMY.
Favorite BTS Fragrances by Group Member
As you can imagine, scents favored by each of these group members is as diverse as the individual members themselves. Some of them have grown a scent collection, others prefer not to indulge in that many fragrances at once.
Jungkook
The singer and songwriter Jungkook clearly believes in having a scent for every occasion. Multiple sources have revealed that he likes to wear one of nine scents at any given time:
- The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit – zesty and refreshing
- Bvlgari’s Omnia Paraiba – complex but light blend of fruity, floral, and woody notes
- Gucci’s Flora Glamorous Magnolia – mostly floral with hints of spices, fresh greens, and citrus notes
- Hermes’ Le Jardin Monsieur Li – invigorating citrus white floral aromatic perfume
- Philosophy’s Pure Grace Fragrance – clean and crisp soap and water notes
- Victoria’s Secret Love Spell – very fruity and floral fragrance with musk notes
- Victoria’s Secret Noir Tease – sweet, floral, fruity blend of vanilla, pear, and gardenia
- Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction Body Mist – sweet melon, plum, and freesia notes
- W. Dressroom New York 97 – like fresh cotton laundry hanging on the clothesline in spring
J-Hope
This multi talented performer has been known to wear these two scents:
Terre d’Hermes by Hermes
Terre meaning “earth” in French, it’s no wonder why this fragrance is earthy and woody. It’s made with shiso leaves, which add a green freshness with subtle spices and citrus notes. Grapefruit adds to the freshness factor. Grounding cedar supports all the other fragrances.
John Varvatos Artisan
An eau de toilette spray with citrus top notes, clementine and tangelo.Warm ginger root and North African orange tree blossom make up the heart notes. Woody musk base notes add earthiness and subtle powdery scents.
Jin
Only one scent has the heart of Jin, Philosykos by Diptyque. Philosykos is Greek for, “friend of the fig tree.”
It’s infused with fig: fig leaves, fig tree sap, and fig tree wood. There are also spicy black pepper notes.
RM
RM has been reported as stating that he doesn’t like personal fragrances all that much. He prefers natural scents. That said, when or if he does choose to wear cologne, he opts for Chanel No5 Body Lotion.
I can understand why someone who dislikes perfumes would instead apply this lotion. It’s got a subtle floral fragrance. Most notable scents are rose and jasmine blooms.
V
V is another group member who practices minimalism when it comes to personal fragrances. He’s been known to only fragrance himself with Aveeno Stress Relief lotion at times because he doesn’t really like perfumes. Its fragrance composition is mostly lavender accompanied by ylang ylang and gentle chamomile.
More recent reports suggest that he’s been gravitating towards Invictus by Paco Rabbane during those times when he elects to wear cologne. Read more about it as part of Suga’s list below.

Part of Chanel’s Les Exclusifs de Chanel unisex eau de parfum collection, Boy Chanel is a blend of lavender and geranium floral notes with woody base notes.
Invictus by Paco Rabanne
A popular scent among men, especially ones in BTS’s age group, Invictus by Paco Rabanne is a stately fragrance. Fresh and spicy notes are grounded by woody base notes in the original version..
There’s the regular Invictus, Invictus Victory, and Invictus Platinum.
John Varvatos Artisan Fragrance
Clementine and tangelo top notes transition into ginger root and North African orange tree blossom heart notes. Base notes close out to a woody musk.
Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Eau de Toilette
Housed in a container in the shape of a grenade, one can’t help but wonder just how spicy this fragrance might be. It’s described as an “explosion of pepper and cinnamon.”
This very masculine scent contains: bergamot, grapefruit, cinnamon, elemi, leaf, pimento,vetiver, tobacco, leather.
Even as a less concentrated eau de toilette, Spicebomb explodes with intensity.
Jimin
This singer and dancer is loyal to Orange Blossom Cologne by Jo Malone. It’s a soft and sweet floral fragrance with the following ingredients:
- Top notes: Clementine flower (bittersweet floral notes)
- Heart notes: White lilac (spicy floral fragrance)
- Base notes: Orriswood (balanced powdery and woody scent notes)
Should You Wear Scents Like BTS?
With so many scents to choose from, you probably would find at least one on this list that you might want to try.
You’ll also notice that there’s a combination of scent types: cologne, eau de toilette, parfum, etcetera.
Pay attention to the fragrance notes, and then decide whether or not they might be appealing to you. For instance, Jungkook clearly loves to wear floral, fruity, and gourmand fragrances. But Suga selections incorporate more citrus, spice, floral, and wood notes.
Once you’ve narrowed your list, the next step is to order samples, wholesale testers, or small bottles of the fragrance in order to test it out on your skin for a few days.
