Born in Covington, Louisiana, Ian began modeling at the age of ten. He modeled for three years before deciding to focus on acting at the age of 17. Somerhalder landed his first major television role at the age of 22; it was a spin-off of Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em>, called Young Americans<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As an actor, Ian Somerhalder has most notably played the roles of Boone Carlyle in Lost <\/em>and Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries<\/em>.
